Intruders need not apply

And just like that, Bowie is a one year old doggo.  When did he decide to quintuple in size on us?

Takes his job very seriously
Bowie knows that with age comes great responsibility.  He is very concerned about the looming global economic slowdown.  During the day, he curls up next to the couch and watches World War I and II documentaries and the local news with his dad.  He very seriously sniffs and searches all friends and family who come over to make sure that they turn over any gifts/contraband to him.

Don't let Bowie's velvet floppy ears fool you.  If you rattle the trash bins outside at night or are our house guests and get home late, he will unleash his full barking wrath in your ear holes.  Alert!  Intruder!  Stay away!  The ferocious Bowie will leap up out of his bed, where he was warmly and safely ensconced before, and stalk toward the burglar (clearly it must be).  And if said "burglar" or house guest is then to approach to reassure and calm him down, he will scurry scurry scurry back to the safety of his bed, barking all the way.  Because he certainly did not sign up for attack dog duty, only guard dog please.

Our neighborhood (unofficial) watch has spotted coyotes lurking in our alley, again, in the late evenings / early mornings.  There are at least three cats that roam around our street - one of whom likes to sit on our windowsill and meow to be let in.  The magnolia tree in the front yard is home to a number of squirrels, and now there is also a gigantic bulldozer sitting on the lawn of the house across the street.  All of these must be monitored and be growled at, particularly when it's dark outside and when I'm fast asleep.

Day or especially night, rain or shine, Bowie is on the job!  Happy happy birthday to our vigilant pup.  Could you please keep it down at night though, mom is desperately trying to sleep.

  5. I don't want to tell you how to raise your dog, but I concerned that he might have felt left out by not having matching pajamas. The LEAST you could have done was get him a hat. ;-)
