Weddings Are
My sister and her husband had their wedding in a fruit orchard almost two weeks ago in Hood River, Oregon. We have hundreds of pictures courtesy of some new family members (yay!) and video footage thanks to Bryan. It was a lovely, celebratory long weekend filled with family and friends - not completely devoid of drama, but when has that ever been the case with a wedding?
Weddings are:
Hundreds of hours spent hand drawing invitations, cobbling together table centerpieces, and writing vows for four hours of celebration
Your little sister, a glowing vision in white, after fighting against the white wedding dress tradition
Family and friends flying (and sometimes driving) hundreds of miles to hold you in their embrace
Trodding on unripened apple pulp and trying not to turn an ankle while walking down the aisle
Screaming infants who know when to wail at just the right time
Trying desperately hard not to ugly cry during the ceremony
Dad beaming proudly and Mom scurrying around to play hostess to family members
Pies. Pie everywhere. Pizza pies and berry pies, all locally sourced from Hood River
Worth it
To quote my mother after the reception: I wasn’t convinced that the wedding would be in the beginning but it really was worth everything in the end. Thanks to Iris & Mitch for letting us have a role during their special day and wishing them a long and happy marriage!

What a beautiful picture! I'm glad the wedding was everything that was hoped for. As far as the screaming baby at the right time, the baby will become a child that's going to laugh with your sister when that watch that video together. Congratulations to your family and I wish them worlds of happiness!
ReplyDeleteLOL it's so true. Mitch's nephew had to be carried down the aisle... while eating an unripened apple. It's going to be hilarious when he's a teenager
DeleteI'm less than 6 months away from my wedding date and I'm lowkey freaking out because I know it's going to be hectic. I'll be sure to brace myself!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to hear that your survived it and that it was all worth it. Also, a wedding in Oregon sounds like a dream! I'm quite jealous.
Deep breaths it's going to be great! And don't forget to take the time and enjoy it :)
DeleteWhat a gorgeous place for a wedding!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThey really picked the right venue
DeleteOh man, I hadn't realized I share a name with your sister. It doesn't happen too often!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy putting together speedy photo albums on Picaboo from everyone's [public] social media photos from the wedding. Picaboo will run a good sale frequently, and this way the new couple has physical photos to look at while waiting for their photographer to be done editing. If you move fast enough, you can get the album to them by the time they return from their honeymoon ;)
It's not a very common name :)
DeleteUnfortunately they're back already but I also think their photographer has already edited a lot of their photos!
We had pies too from a local place known for them, my only wedding regret was being too full on mexican food to eat more pies.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I'll take more Mexican food over pies any day!
DeleteAaaaaw....congrats to your sis:) And ugly crying is totally ok at weddings:D
ReplyDeleteThank you! I couldn't let the mascara run lol
