You all may have seen but an F3 tornado unexpectedly hit Dallas this past Sunday evening. It touched down only a few miles north of our house and continue traveling northeast before finally petering out.
That evening, my horse trainer and her husband were at our house for dinner and after observing a particularly dramatic lightning show, we decided that it probably would be a good idea to run down to the barn and bring the horses inside. Luckily, the barn is less than a 10 minute drive from our house, and we arrived right before the storm started. The horses were all at the gates to their paddocks, tapping their wrist watches like “It’s about time folks, come on let’s go indoors!” I’m glad made the mad dash out to bring them in, luckily all the horses are fine and the barn is okay as well.
We spent the rest of Sunday night watching the weatherman on the news soak up the spotlight, listening to the eerie tornado sirens wail, and texting our friends to make sure they were hunkered down. In our neighborhood, we got some rain, no hail, and some mighty strong winds but that was all. Everyone that I know is fine and their houses are okay, but there was a lot of damage to other parts of the city. We’ve certainly had our fair share of storms this year and I’ll be glad when fall storm season is over (who knew there was a fall storm season??).

So many noods |
Last week, I told you guys I ordered a pasta maker. You all, this thing is glorious. We spent 3 hours making fresh pasta and ended up with trays and trays of noodles. We ended up giving some of it away to my parents because there were just so many noodles. I let
this bolognese recipe simmer on the stove during the entire time and we feasted like champions.
I had also ordered the heeled chelsea booties from Nisolo. I’ve had their smoking slippers for a few years and also have a pair of wedges from them. The shoes came in this week and do not disappoint. They are very comfortable and exactly the style I was looking for. It obviously doesn’t hurt that have a transparency policy where they publish their lowest wages so that consumers can be aware of the impact of their purchase. This isn’t a sponsored post but if you like their mission statement and shoes, Cup of Jo has a
20% coupon code here.
In pet corner, Bowie is loving the attention that Bryan’s parents are lavishing on him. He wakes up early every morning to pace outside their bedroom door, waiting for them to wake up and play with him.
This weekend will be filled with pumpkin carving, dumplings, and more time spent with family. I hope y’all enjoy this very fall-like weekend. Stay safe and warm!
Pumpkin carving and dumplings sounds like my type of weekend. Enjoy! The tornado is so scary. I didn't realize that Texas was known for tornadoes. They must be if they even have tornado sirens. How scary!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, a lot of tornadoes but usually in the spring time. It is spooky, especially at night when you can't see anything
DeleteGirl, those chelsea boots rock!!!!! And I didn't know that there is such a thing as fall storm season....Texas weather is crazy!:P Glad to hear though that you guys are all ok.
ReplyDeleteThey're so mean, I love them!
Deleteglad you are all okay. We even had sirens in Memphis the other day (tho we couldnt hear them where we are but we did see the tornado watch/warnings) we had high wind and rain (still having rain today ugh). Um that pasta maker would be a sin here. LOL
ReplyDeleteWOOF. We're supposed to get more storms moving through tomorrow
DeleteI bet those booties look good on you! I heard about that tornado. Good to know you're all right.
ReplyDeleteThanks Blue! Yeah we dodged it but it was very creepy
DeleteI can only imagine.
DeleteI wish there was no such thing as tornados, but I'm glad everyone is okay. Maybe if there was a horse video stream that could be your early warning system.
ReplyDeleteI love the boots!
They're comfy - highly recommend them!
DeleteI’m so glad that y’all are ok!
