Bean obsessed

To say that my mother is a little obsessed with coffee is probably the understatement of the year.  It's her poison of choice and the only "vice" that she allows herself.  And does the woman partake.  When my parents went to Seattle last year, she went to the original Starbucks four times in one day.  She might be where I get my caffeine addiction from.  As I end up working from a lot of coffee shops, I'll check out their bean selection to bring her a bag.  Is it just me or are the logos of coffee roasters not delightful?  I've collected a smattering from around the US and Canada (affiliated roasters are below).  Which is your favourite and are there any logos that make you want to buy the product?

Roasters from top to bottom, left to right:
Te Aro
49th Parallel
Verve
Intelligentsia
Coava
Handsome
Matchstick
Flat Black

  1. I like that 49th parallel one probably the best.
I don't like coffee, have never actually had a cup.

  6. A popular local roaster in RI is New Harvest - I don't know about the beans (I don't drink coffee) but their logo is pretty awesome! http://www.newharvestcoffee.com/

  9. The logos are very cool. I like Intelligentsia's wings! Te Aro uses Swiss water??? That seems a little extreme, but a nice marketing touch.

Your mom would like my morning commute, it takes me past an 8 o'clock coffee plant--the smell is wonderful. :)

  10. I don't know any of these brands, haha. We have different ones in Luxembourg but I would say that most people love coffee. I rarely go a day without drinking at least one cup!

  11. As a fellow barista, I am pretty addicted to THE bean as well. :) I actually really enjoy (good) coffee product labels & marketing. :) It always seems to catch my eye when visiting a local coffee shop.

Some others are Stumptown, Ritual, Verve and Insight.

  12. I had a massive caffeine addiction up until recently but I have managed to cut down to one cup a day (it’s not been easy)! I can’t say that our coffee packaging is quite as pretty as this but I won’t really drink anything but Italian coffee!

  13. What fun! I love product design (logos included). The last thing I bought purely for the design: Suzie's yellow mustard. ("Your dog will ♥ it" . . . *snicker*). I may have made a slight scene when I saw it . . . so fun and vintage-y! :)

  14. I love the Intelligentsia one! Maybe it reminds me of when I lived in Chicago (there's an Intelligentsia downtown) or maybe it's just a really cool, interesting logo, but either way I love it.

  21. A few months ago, I decided that I was going to try all the coffee places I could walk to in Boston during my lunch hour. Funny enough, my favorite is this place that has DIY coffee {as in you pay for a cup and then get it yourself} but they always make it strong enough and delicious enough. I think my favorite espresso drinks of all are made by Rao's Coffee Roasters. They opened up in the town I went to college about a year after I started drinking coffee so that may be why. I even dealt with one person, who was always working when I went in, getting my drink wrong every. single. time.

As far as the ones you have listed, I tried Flatblack since it was within my lunch time walking range, but I didn't like it as much as I wanted to. That said, I will try anything with a cool logo once. And I love being in coffee shops when they are roasting. I think it's one of the best smells ever. :)

  24. Love all the graphic design on these labels! Gosh, I really can't pick a favorite. There is something special about each of them. Though, Intelligentsia is up there. Another product that has great package design is wine labels.

  25. Haha, I am starting to want to be friends with your parents. I love that original Starbucks - it is so unique and other-worldly.

I am into that Matchstick logo the best, probably because it's so unique and simple. Coffee is huge here in Portland too. My favorite is called Stumptown.
