At it again
The suitcase didn't even have time to accumulate dust as it's time to hit the road again. The other day, my boss asked me if I was still "running a farm" - what with the dog shenanigans and the horse activities - to which I replied "basically yes." And so the farm must continue running, even while I'm away.
Luckily, Mae is boarded and my trainer always keeps a sharp eye on her, even when I'm in town. She's been acting weird with the changing weather lately, so I'm a tiny bit worried about what's going on. "Weird" behavior in this case means lying down in her stall for large portions of the day. She hasn't been like that since she had her ulcer episode over two years ago. However she's still eating with a healthy appetite and pooping so who knows what's the matter. She's also fine - if not a little sluggish - under saddle. Horses, amirite?
The dog will be hanging out with Bryan during the week. Bryan will likely spend the majority of that time fighting to keep Bowie from tearing up our fresh sod. I ordered some patio furniture, which should arrive while I'm gone. Spring is late to Texas, which means its been chilly and the bugs are still nonexistent. They can stay gone, as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure as soon as we get the patio furniture up, we'll be able to enjoy it for one whole day before the mosquitoes decide to make our backyard into their camping ground again.
Traveling is a funny thing, so glamorous when you're younger and plain exhausting now. Between my work travel and Bryan's job as a pilot, being on the road is more of a steady state than sitting around at home. The unpredictability of it all also makes it a scheduling nightmare. However, it does make the time just sitting around and hanging out at home together much more valuable.
Hug your fur family for me - I can't wait to go home and do the same with mine.

omg that sounds exhausting. Wow. I hope you get to enjoy your patio stuff more than one day> We dont even own a set (we have an old set but nothing fancy) due to NEVER SITTING OUTSIDE LAST YEAR WHEN WE MOVED IN (bugs, tennessee has them too) HA!
ReplyDeleteI hope Mae is okay. I noticed Tate peed like five times yesterday. I was like wtf is wrong with you (He usually goes once when he gets in the stall at night) SMH horses..right??
I hope your sod survives.
I hate traveling now
Once the mosquitoes emerge, I'm not using the patio furniture. We'll see how long we'll be able to sit outside before nature tries to kill us.
DeleteGeezus pony... is it okay to ask for everything/one to just calm the F down right now?
I hate traveling for work - it doesn't help that I don't go anywhere interesting.
ReplyDeleteNo, that definitely doesn't help!
DeleteI used to travel so much more before I got Nash. I still love traveling, but I hate leaving him, & actually since getting him haven't been away from him for more than 2 nights lol. I need to get over it & travel more again, or start finding more dog friendly places to travel & take him along!
ReplyDeleteWe've taken Bowie A LOT of places but sometimes it's nice to board him and just go do our own thing :)
DeleteAs someone who's never traveled for work, as I was always jealous when I hear peeps having to do this, but now, as I am way older (ahem), I totally can understand the exhaustion part. I hope it's a great city wherever you may be going:) And I hope Mae's ok. She sounds like she just likes keeping you on your toes:D
ReplyDeleteI'm turning into one of those old people who can nap anywhere!
DeleteIf having multiple animals makes a farm then I too have a farm. Lucy gets out of the house daily and I have to chase her down. Linus chews on cords. The poor fish hasn't had his water changed in weeks even though it's been on my list for weeks. We the Three Ring Circus Farm.
ReplyDeleteYep, I know exactly how you feel :)
DeleteWow, I can imagine traveling for work can be so exhausting especially when you have farm! Also love the dog photo...so cute! And hopefully, Mae is doing better!

Thanks Valerie - she certainly is!
DeleteI can't imagine being gone from your fur family for so long! Who takes care of Bowie when you are both out?
ReplyDelete7% Solution
When Bryan is not working, Bowie stays at home. When we're both gone, he's boarded or goes to doggie daycare
