Holidays are here?!

Hello hello and merry merry!  I can't believe October was the last time I blogged, even though I've been lurking in the background and reading about what y'all have been up to.  We've had a very busy fall and it's going to be matched with an equally busy holiday season.

Bryan and I wrapped up October by going to Oregon for my nephew's second birthday party and to meet the newest member of the family.  Toddler and baby are so cute and so much fun - it was wonderful to be able to spend more quality time with them.

We hosted Thanksgiving at our house, one of the smaller family gatherings that we've had.  It meant more food for us - Bryan was in town and smoked a turkey while I baked CAKES instead of pie.  Since we were all pie-d out before Thanksgiving, the cakes were a welcome change to the typical Thanksgiving fare.  I made a pumpkin tres leches cake and a cheesecake tiramisu, which received rave reviews.

We also had the Michigan family come down for a visit last week - Bryan's grandma has never been to Texas and we filled her trip with all the Christmas and Texas that she could stomach.  Mostly, there was a lot of food.  We hosted a dumpling making party while she was here and she also ate pho for the first time.  To counterbalance the Asian cuisine, we also had fajitas and they took her out for a barbecue lunch one day.  Dallas weather cooperated and each day was sunny and warmer than any of the temps they have in Michigan right now.

We are about to have family come back in town for the Christmas holidays and I'm excited to have them in Texas.  It will be my parents' first time meeting their new grandchild and Christmas with the kiddos will be a lot of fun.  This was a quick and short note to say -  I hope all of y'all are staying healthy and well and that the holiday season is everything that you want it to be!
