Beachy keen

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend.  I know a lot of you are getting prepared for Hurricane Sandy.  From one hurricane city to another, please don't do anything foolish and stay safe!

Now speaking of hurricanes, this home in Galveston may be my favourite house out of all that I've ever featured on my blog.  I really do love everything about it - the porches, the proximity to the beach, the interior that really feels so bright and light.  All of the bedrooms are absolutely adorable and I particularly like the den / kids' bedroom with the little built in sleeping nooks.  I may even take that room over the master and its pedestal tub.  The cross breeze must feel wonderful during the hot sticky Texas nights and imagine the parties that you could throw out on that back patio.  I wonder if they'll negotiate down a bit from the $2.1 million listing price (which includes all the furnishings)....

  3. Wow! That is one beautiful house! I love the space. The use of screen to partition the living area from the dining but flexible enough to open it if they decide to join them both and the kitchen just right next to it. Like you said, this is going to be great for entertaining.

  4. The house has no gutters--I'll take it!!! That reaction is partly due to having spent a ridiculous amount of time preparing for the storm.

The sleeping nooks are so cool--a light for reading, a shelf for your books, and drawers underneath. What more do you need??? :) That's an unusual tub, almost looks as if you could tip it over, but I'm sure it's well anchored.

I'm glad you liked the story about the old farmhouse and the Beagle's wagging tails. :)

  7. Is it the camera lens or is this house also absolutely gigantic? I do love that patio.

I'm off to work to probably leave again. They are worried that the 300 year old windows will break in the storm. :)

  13. Even though my state is in a State of Emergency, I'm still at work today -__- I'm definitely wishing I could be someplace like that home though...the sleeping nooks are so cute!

  14. That's a really beautiful home, I love all the beams with the black iron rods supporting them. The stairwell looks like you're in a ship! I love the bathroom with the subway tile shower. Stunning. If you moved it far away from the beach and added like 20 feet on either side between the neighbors, I'd take it :)

  19. Rooth, I agree, I think this is my favorite house so far. The builders paid attention to every last detail. Well, for $2.1M, I guess they should. ;) Like Christine, I also thought the home had a loft feel to it.

  20. It includes all the furnishings?? Come on, Rooth...2.1 is pocket change!! :-)

I'm kind of in love with that back porch. My future home WILL have that.

  23. When can I move in? And who's paying for me to live there? Because the 2.1 million is a little out of my budget...

  26. Oh yeah. This is my favorite. I love how light and airy it is with those punches of black in the furniture and on the bannisters to keep it grounded. The open floor plan is just what I want for my dream home, and I love the porches and loft-like feel. View ain't bad either. ;)
