Gone to the dogs

For forty-eight hours, this squirmy little beastie ruled the roost at my house.  Phineas aka Finny is a four month old, blue heeler mixed pup who belongs to one of my best friends.  As he hasn't had all of his puppy shots yet and his doggy dad was going out of town for the weekend, I volunteered to host Puppy Vegas at my home.  And how could you say no to a cute face like this?  What they say about good things coming in small packages is true.  However, they don't tell you that small things have really tiny bladders too.  With potty breaks every two hours and tiny, curious puppy teeth, my weekend was spent chasing after the pitter patter of little feet.

After countless games of fetch and tug-of-war, Finny would crash hard for around an hour or two, recharging his batteries and be ready to play again.  But he was also content lounging next to me on the couch (no matter how many times I tried to stop him) while I read a book, dozing and stretching and passing oh-so-lovely puppy gas.  Finny's dad must have told him to be on his best behavior because there were no potty accidents in the house and he slept in his crate at night without crying.  Although the house seems so much more quiet without him tonight, I can once again leave my electrical cords dangling, put food and drinks on my coffee table, and not set my alarm for pee breaks in the middle of the night.  Finny, I'm happy to be your Aunt Rooth and remember, what happens in Puppy Vegas, stays in Puppy Vegas.

  4. I was waiting for this post! Finny is freakin ADORABLE. That face. He looks so sweet! Also, I'm happy to finally know how to spell your name (Rooth!). I feel like I've seen it differently on your Instagram (spelled "Ruth") in the past so I've always been confused about that. Ha.

  6. I would trade Maggie for him Ina second! At ten months she still has to go out every 2 hours during the day. And still bites at furniture when she thinks no one is watching. And jumps up on people, digging her nails I to them. She would whine all night in a strange house.

Would you like a dog??? :)

  10. Pupppyyyyy. Puppy puppy puppy!! Well that is just about the best house guest you could have gotten, tiny teeth and puppy farts and all. I'm surprised he had to go out so frequently! Granted it's been a while since I've had a true puppy, but Fitz was 8 months old when he got him and immediately could hold it overnight and 8-9 hours a day without accidents. Surely this little guy should be making it through the night? xo

  12. oh puppy! look at that adorable little thing, you'd never know he had shark teeth inside that sweet little face. on a side note marla has not yet grown out of her puppy bladder (except at night she can hold, during the day though, it's like every five minutes it feels like - especially feels that way when it's super cold or rainy outside ;)

  13. He's so cute!! Glad he was well behaved and didn't have a single accident. You also did a great job taking him out every few hours! He's more well behaved than my dogs who's first night away from home is always full of barking at every little sound.

  15. Oh, he's adorable! I want to rub his cute puppy belly and squish his ears. :) It must be nice to have a puppy without the long training commitment. A weekend of 2 hour bathroom runs may be all I could handle, you did really well!!
