Breaking all the rules

Society6
Well, I've been breaking almost all of them.

You're not supposed to use your weekends to catch up on sleep debt.  You're especially not supposed to do that when you may be working weekends and waking up early anyway.

You're not supposed to eat only Swedish fish for dinner, right Shalini?  You're also not supposed to tell the parents that your sister does that.

Your weekend diet shouldn't consist of ice cream sandwiches, popsicles and blueberries.  Your aforementioned Swedish fish disapproving parents should not be encouraging that by buying more intriguing flavours of ice cream to "try."

You're not supposed to speed read the last 100 pages of a book that you've been slugging through and then feel disappointed with the ending.  You should have the maturity to put it down, unfinished, and feel good about choosing how to spend your time.

You're not supposed to throw all of your dirty laundry into one load without separating the colours.  You really shouldn't be doing that seven years after graduating from college.

You shouldn't leave comic book stores without buying anything, particularly after their grand opening and when there's a Sheldon Cooper Funko figurine that's screaming your name.

What rules have you been breaking lately?  I hope there are lots of them.

  1. Too many to count I think, haha! Well, I´d do everything from your list - except mixing colors when I do the laundry. Since I was 16 and colored my friends NEW pair of jeans red, that has been a BIG no-no for me..! :-D

  2. Hmmm let's see, not supposed to have beer for dinner, not supposed to get sucked into The Call Centre and watch every episode back to back when you should be packing, not suppose to be skiving at work (seriously guilty), not supposed to be shopping and adding to the list of ever-growing stuff to ship across the world when you move, not suppose to smoke cigars when you gave up exactly 3 years ago... need I go on?

  3. Oh yea, I've broken all of those rules too. I'm the worst at following rules, especially when it comes to food. Like, you're not supposed to eat strawberries for dinner, but I do that all the time these days. And I'm fairly sure there's a rule against how much pho you're meant to consume. That one goes straight out the window on a weekly basis.

  4. Breaking rules? I don't understand. Why would anyone break rules??? :)

Except for the clothes thing, I'm with you 100%! Summer is a great time to break rules and have fun. I used to turn on my dad's a/c while he was at work--a big no-no.

    Hurray for ice cream sandwiches!!!

  5. Gotta love that weekend diet! Mine is very similar. I like to think I can get away with eating fried cheese and cupcakes and ice cream on the weekend, just as long as I eat somewhat healthy during the week. I'll just go on believing that.

  6. Mmm . . . ice cream! Is it bad that is what I'm taking away from this post? Alas, it can't be helped. It's only 6 a.m. and it's hot, already!

  7. Well, you know what they say...rules are made to be....yadda yadda yadda:)

*whispers* I do that laundry thing ALL THE TIME...

  8. Oh, laundry rule breaking. Thank god that's not an enforceable offense, though whenever I do get around to actually doing laundry, I still make sure to sort everything. But still!

  9. At least you ate blueberries :). I'd say that balances the indulgences, though my rule is that weekends are the time to break from your normal diet and have some fun! I break napping "rules" on weekends. "They" say to nap before 2pm and only for an hour. I napped from 2:30-5pm over the weekend and it was AWESOME!

  10. ha, I'm trying to ignore rules. even though after reading this it feels like a shame to not keep a few just for the sake of breaking them xxx

  11. I vote that the ice cream rule is a good one to break...I'm getting on the bandwagon for weekend sleep catch on too - that's one I've been breaking...well, mine has been more like catching up on sleep during the day with 1-2 hour naps.

  13. I should have bought Sheldon Cooper ;-)
I'm reading a book that's quite disappointing. I won't put it down. I broke two of my rules lately. I ate french fries and ice cream.

    xx

  14. It's only fun when we can break the rules ;) I am definitely trying to catch up on sleep on the weekends but get up too early to do so anyways...And the ice cream rule was meant to be broken, I can always eat ice scream, even if I am full...I will be trying to catch up on sleep tomorrow! Happy 4th!

  15. I had one day last weekend where it was too hot to cook or eat really so I think I only at chips and drank lemonade for the whole day. :)

Please don't tell me it's the book we are both reading that you were disappointed in. I'm still in the same place....

  16. What? ...ice cream sandwiches, popsicles and blueberries are not a healthy diet? That's my weekend 'BREAKFAST' :O Yep, breaking a bit of rules over here too including .... the main one: You shouldn't leave things for last minute (though procrastination is my middle name).
