When dusk falls

via here
When dusk falls here
It is silent, it is quiet.
Elsewhere, cars honk, tires screech, television sets drone on and babble.
Pots and pans, dishes and forks
Clink, clatter and rattle.
The world getting off from work and gluing itself to what distractions it can find.

But no, oh no.  Not here.
Here the waves crash,
And the moon rises
Seamlessly slipping amongst the wisps of clouds
Like a clipper on smooth seas.
Inky dark sky with a sprinkling of stars
And then the night.

  3. "Like a clipper on smooth seas." That's an image I like, an image you can retain in your mind and drift to when needed. Beautiful.

I wish I'd gotten a picture of an amazing sunset I saw in the way home this week--so you could write about it.

  11. Such a pretty poem! I love alone time, and I love the peace and quiet that often comes with it. Right now I'm sitting in my apartment and the only thing I can hear is the fan and very, very faint traffic outside. I love it.

  12. Wow, there is something so eerie and cool about that photo. Like I'd want to be there, but only if I had someone to be there with me hehe. Love the line of the "inky skies and sparkling stars"

  16. Ruth, lovely poem. Whatever I say won't match the eloquence of that, so I won't even try. But I loved that line "gluing itself to what distractions it can find." Such a great imagery.
