Mounting delays

At some point, the only thing that you can really do is laugh.  The kitchen renovations at my parents' house are rolling along, only to be stymied by the winter storm that's rolling through the area tonight.  Not surprisingly, the renovations were not completed today, as promised, and if the contractors can get to the house tomorrow through the bad road conditions, then maybe it'll be done tomorrow.  We may be brining the turkey at my place tomorrow evening.

I hope y'all have been keeping warm this wintery weekend - I actually popped out to the barn twice in the freezing temperatures for some exercise, for both me and the horses.  They're extra feisty in the cold weather, the wind puts a pop in their step.  Doesn't Ike look cute in his winter kilt?

  1. Cute? He looks like a noble steed! We'll have our fingers crossed for the renovation to finished tomorrow. But you'll get good stories out of this if it's not. :)
We went to the gym yesterday, before the cold got...well, freezing,

  2. He´s fantastic! :-) Tell me more about your horses, is it a family thing with several horses for all of you or do you ride them on your own? Where do you keep them and how many are they?

  4. This is why winter is my least favorite season....the weather always puts a halt to things (and I'm freezing all the time!) Yes...the winter kilt is so adorable!

  7. I'm assuming it's because it's Monday and my brain is still asleep, but the first thing I thought of when I saw Ike, all adorable in his winter gear, was those Wild Berry poptarts. I think it's the combination of the purple and the teal? http://www.poptarts.com/flavors/wildlicious/wildlicious-wild-berry Or I'm insane.

  9. Ike is looking fancy! I love to see animals taken good care of and especially kept warm in the winter. I just bought my brother's dog a plaid flannel vest. He loves them in the Iowa cold!
Good luck with your Turkey situation! I don't recall where your parents live, if you've mentioned it, but I hope it's not too long of a journey for a freshly brined bird. :)

  10. ike is such a handsome guy. he really is a beautiful horse, but all dressed up in his kilt, watch out. you are going to have to keep all those girly horses in their stalls when ike walks by.
