It's as though once I get a taste, I can't get enough. I want to hit the road, live out of a backpack, wash clothes in a sink and hang them out on a line to dry, eat strange foods, meet different people and have yards and yards of stories to tell. I want to fight off mosquitoes, squish mud between my toes, sweat uncomfortably and pull knots out of my hair. I want to forget about the deadlines, forget about the phones, forget about the internet and disappear. I'm ready to wander again and to get lost. I'm ready for adventure!
Take me with you? I promise I am a great travel companion (unless I get hangry of course). My best friend is currently living from a backpack, travelling around the world - last check she was in Bali! She is loving it so much that she did an English teaching course and is probably going to travel permanently (oh yes, and she was a high flying ad exec)!
ReplyDeleteI was with you right up until the mosquitoes! Isn't there a place to wander (and experience wonder) that doesn't have those little buggers??? Perhaps the mud is all frozen in those places.
ReplyDeleteOooooo are you making plans?
ReplyDeleteSweetheart don't get me started. Seriously. I'd ditch this place in a heartbeat. Half a heartbeat if I could.
ReplyDeleteAaaahhhh...the joys of youth:) Go and have your adventures, Rooth.
ReplyDeleteSo, scrap the dirty feet and strange food and washing clothes in a sink and living out of a backpack (I'm more of a washer/dryer, suitcase, nice hotel girl) but I'm with you for the rest of it! Especially the disconnecting from the phone and internet bit. xo
ReplyDeleteTHIS times 1000. The time is now. Get it gurl!
ReplyDeletesounds most awesome! hope you get to do it!
ReplyDeletei agree. as much as i also love hotels and eating in nice places (i'd say i am 50/50 - maybe 70/30; they are good for cleaning up in) but it's just not the same when wandering. it's not as adventurous, you don't meet the right people and eat the right food traveling that way. i like all the things you mentioned because it reminds you you are alive, you immerse yourself in actual living. it's just a wonderful feeling. xo
ReplyDeleteLovely words, I feel that way quite often. :-)

Sounds amazing! Ahh, I think that everyone has a wanderlust inside of them that can't be quenched. I feel ya girl!

I have told you about my map, right? I think in a few years I am going to take a trip around the world, just leave home for 6 months to a year and go, over land mostly with the trans-Siberian railroad. I even found a cheap boat from Hawaii through the South Pacific islands to Australia {actually for less than a flight and you visit more places}.
ReplyDeleteWhen I find a good place to go, I put it on my map and write a description of why and links to any blog or website.
Where are you going next?
PS - Perhaps you could fulfill that want by setting a goal to visit the continents you have not yet touched??? There'd be two stops with no mosquitoes. :)
ReplyDeleteI am ready to pack my bags and head out to an adventure with you! So ready for a vacation...
ReplyDeleteI was with you until the backpacks and mosquitoes. I'm totally up for adventure so long as I have a lovely room with private bath awaiting me at the end of the day. :)
ReplyDeleteYou know, I had a boss once who took two years off to travel the world with her husband. She sent the best emails, depicting their travels, the places they went, the people they met . . .
Let's go! I'm always up for an adventure! I'm always jealous of celebrities who get paid to travel to so many neat places!
ReplyDeleteAmen!! (minus the fighting mosquitoes part, haha)
ReplyDeleteI've been thoroughly enjoying all your pics on Instagram. They are just amazing. Hope you've had a wonderful time :) (and yeah I can relate, I just want to hit the road too).
ReplyDeleteThat actually sounds pretty amazing Rooth!
ReplyDeletecome join me :)
ReplyDeleteOh man do I feel you.
