"I've learned that there's a big difference between stubbornness and perseverance. Stubbornness involves me forcing things to work, while perseverance requires me to work consistently with what's already working."
Life lesson imparted to me by @amychiou
That is so so so true.
ReplyDeleteVery very true words. (And that picture is absolutely beautiful - couldn't resist pinning it)!
ReplyDeleteThat's such a good way to put it. Must remember that next time I'm in stubborn mule mode ;-)
ReplyDeleteSo we discard anything that's not already working??? There nothing wrong with trying to fix something...just gotta know when to stop. I think that's what she means...I hope that's what she means.
ReplyDeleteAnother amen from me. :)
ReplyDeleteGood stuff here. I'm going to chew on this for awhile.
ReplyDeletei love good quotes. this one is great!
ReplyDeleteOooh I like this quote a lot. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHmm. I think perseverance would be trying to make something work regardless of if it's working already. Like creating your own thing and making it work. Anyone can latch on to something that's already working! xo
ReplyDeleteTrue story though.
ReplyDeleteps. wow @ that picture!
Ah! Now that's very good. I like that. Very wise. Very profound
ReplyDeletethe photo is amazing. i am definitely going to spend some time checking out more of his work. i am not sure what to think about the quote because i feel rarely do i find much in life that is "already working" in which i need perseverance for. i think i might have to agree with erin on this one - unless i am not grasping it correctly.
ReplyDeleteI am usually quite stubborn and I definitely need to know when to stop being stubborn.
ReplyDeleteI agree but I would modify it to read more that stubbornness is going about things the wrong way and not modifying them for the desired outcome. Basically not thinking things through, to come up with a solution that works, insisting on what you think is right, is right. No matter what.
ReplyDeleteThat's a hard point to try to get across on Twitter.
I love finding these drops of wisdom on your blog. Ahh, they're always so relevant to my life!
ReplyDeleteGreat reminder! Though, in the midst of trying to do something, it's often hard to tell the difference.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great quote! Well said! Hope you are having a wonderful day!
