Little house on State Street

This little Victorian house on State Street was built in 1896 and has been lovingly restored.  One could hardly guess that downtown Houston is right around the corner and bustling Washington Corridor, with its bumpin' bars, clubs and restaurants is a few blocks away.  This house reminds me of the Little House on the Prairie, with its simple and basic rustic furnishings, and makes me wonder if I could live a simpler life with fewer things and clutter.  The house is also incredibly bright, with a ton of natural light, as evident in the pictures below.

Picturesque front view of this little home, complete with white picket fence

I really do like this bright and cheery front entry way, with the home's original pine floors.  There are 11 ft ceilings throughout the home as well, which is quite unique for an older home

This kitchen is very, very bright with plenty of windows and undercabinet lighting.  The island is actually not built into the kitchen but an add by the current owner.  It kind of fits in there perfectly, don't you think?

Another view of the kitchen - the brick is very unique and warms up the space quite a bit

Simple (there's that word again) yet functional dining room, between the living room and kitchen.  I'm not a big fan of the red paint on the walls but I do like the door ways

Very simple downstairs bedroom, currently used as the master.  The high ceilings are super apparent in this room

Upstairs bonus room or bedroom.  I could see this easily becoming a master suite.  I think I may like the wood flooring upstairs better than the pine downstairs

Cute little 500 square foot guest house / play house in the back yard.  Look at the mini flowerbed for landscaping!

With sleeping loft!  This would be so perfect for a kid's or creative space
