Sweatpants of your life

Society6
Is it insulting to say that old friends are like a pair of sweatpants?  Comfortable, cozy, non-judgmental and always able to fit regardless of your physique at the time.  This weekend is full of old friends and playing catch up with the sweatpants of my life.  There is no need to justify, to make excuses, to explain explain and explain.  There are only an open mind, nods and a comforting presence.  And stories, oh the new stories, the old stories and those that you can laugh about now.

Today, thank the sweatpants in your life.  And don't be ashamed to rock the sweatpants.

  1. I say the older the sweatpants the better they feel :)But yes, true friends will understand and there is no need for explanation.

  3. I'm so glad you went with sweatpants and not leggings (but I knew you wouldn't). THAT would have been insulting!

The illustration reminds me of my first friend and me. We lived on opposite sides of the tracks and neither of us was allowed to cross. So we'd sit on our opposite sides and talk, throw rocks at each other...typical little boys. By 7 we were crossing without hesitation.

  4. Ah, sounds like a lovely weekend!

One of the things I love most about old friends: You can pick up right where you left off, no matter the years. Sigh.

  5. I don't think it's insulting. I practically live in my sweatpants - it's that love of something familiar and comfortable (almost like wearing a piece of home).

  9. i have several pairs of old sweatpants. i don't get to wear them very often because they are all in different places but when i do put them on i feel like every worry just falls away. i feel like me, my very most true self and there's really no better feeling in the whole world. i love my old sweatpants so very much. without them i'd be a total wreck i am sure.

  10. I once likened a relationship to an old sweater, so I totally get it. :)

  12. Excellent analogy. I think it outlines how under appreciated old friends can be sometimes too, but there always.
