Oh don't mind me

Oh what?  Just ignore the crumbs spewing everywhere.  I'm stress eating.  No, I haven't made up the lost sleep and jet lag from last week.  And yes, I am far behind in terms of catching up on blogs and writing up blog posts (sorry Amy!).  I know, it's past the middle of January and I haven't even done my  December Recent Reads post.  Oh and of course it's fine that work has blown up in my face.  Because I've got all the cookies in my belly.

One "productive" thing that came out of my trip last week was I did catch up on movies on the plane.  Admittedly, that's really the only place I will watch movies because I hate being a captive audience and, well, on a plane, you really don't have a choice.  So I will more or less gladly sit through hours upon hours of the crappiest movies you ever will see.  Like The Lone Ranger.  And Pacific Rim (the second time).  But I did finally get to see what all the fuss was about with Midnight in Paris (oh hello Rooth, welcome to 2011 when the movie was actually released).  And the entire time, I was thinking about two things:

1) How I understand why some of my favourite bloggers adore this movie.  The setting, the Frenchies, the hilariously obnoxious American characters, the endless befuddlement of Owen Wilson, the music, the rain.  Could I go on?  Of course but that would ruin it (for the 1% of people who haven't seen the film).

2) How good Regina George, I mean, Rachel McAdams butt looks in these jeans.

Seriously, can one of you Interwebs wizards figure out what jeans she is wearing and let me know?  Because I spent the vast majority of the movie ignoring what a witchy character Inez was and wondering what brand those jeans were.  Clearly, I'm good at focusing on the important things.

I'm tired.  And weird.

  1. you may never talk to me after that, but has it occurred to you that it may not be the jeans but Rachel McAdam's butt that makes Rachel McAdam's butt look so amazing?

    ;)

  2. Ha! I do that too. Get obsessive over something in a movie and completely lose the thread of the plotline. Like, "oh my GOD that lipgloss is amazing. What color is it? I must have it." Completely ignoring the fact that the actress looks completely different from me, and oh, has makeup artists. ;)

  3. Yea if you find out let me know. But I think it may just be that she has a particularly stunning backside...

  4. I've never seen Midnight in Paris....ack! But yeah...someone post about those jeans ASAP!

  5. My barber talks about that movie ALL the time, so I haven't watched it. I love Petra's comment, but have to disagree with both of you--the backside is okay, not amazing (and the heels get partial credit).

I like that you have all the cookies, but I'm sorry work is bring a jerk. :(

PS - Snowday, with lots of shoveling on the agenda.

  6. OMG THANK YOU for finally watching it!! Now you finally understand me! Haha. I can recite that movie line by line (Hemingway in particular kills me dead. "My opinion is I hate it." "Gil: "You haven't even read it.") I'll do some more recon work on those jeans tonight during our snowstorm (9"!) and I'll see what I can find :) xo

  7. fisher watched that movie last year, and since then it's the movie he compares everything to . . . "well i liked midnight in paris better than that," or "oh, midnight in paris was so much better!" i really don't know what it is about that movie (books/art/time travel for us nerdy types likely) but he loved that movie. he also does the same thing with silver linings playbook - "it's wasn't as good as silver linings playbook."

  8. I have not seen this movie yet, I guess I am the only one. :) But I always try to catch up on movies during flights as well!

  9. Haha I loooove watching movies inside airplanes, because,
well I'm a person who can't fall asleep in airplanes no matter
how I hard I try to. So yeah I watch movies.
And I haven't seen 'Midnight in Paris' yet but its on my
    to-watch list! Xx

  10. I like you because you are weird. Any time you feel bad about being behind, just tell me and I can help you feel like you're on top of things. I haven't sent out Christmas cards yet.....

I agree about the captive audience thing, I really only like watching movies at home so I can pause them and come back later if I get tired of watching. I haven't heard of any of those, though or I don't remember them.

I wish I could help you with the jeans but the only thing I can think is to start with designer brands on a site like Shop Bop {?} and look at the pocket stitching. I think they are all unique. The bag looks designer, so I assume the jeans would be expensive too.

  11. I am like a kid in a candy store when it's time to plug into movies on a long plane trip. Captive audience...bring on at least two or three of them back to back!

  12. Well, I haven't seen Midnight in Paris either, and probably won't as I just can't seem to get behind anything Woody Allen has done (makes me feel kind of dirty) and I'm not a huge fan of Owen Wilson either. Ah well. You should see my Netflix account with the amount of movies that almost everyone has seen before, except, I guess, me.

  13. Crap! I wish I had read this post in a timely fashion . . . I attempted to watch Lone Ranger last night. Holy Guacamole . . . that half hour was one of the most painful of my life!

Oh, and obviously, no worries on being behind on blog writing. I'm right there with ya! :)
