Home is where the art is

Thank you everyone for the well-wishes and prayers yesterday!  My mom came out of surgery yesterday evening successfully and is now resting in the ICU.  I went to see her this evening and she's doing all she can to try and keep down solid food and get to a regular hospital room by tomorrow afternoon.  Oh, the nurses, what lifesavers they are!  I think, actually I know, that they've made my mom's hospital stay infinitely more comfortable and less frightening and the first thing I hear out of her mouth every day is how kind every single one of them is to her.  We've already dropped off a load of baked goods at the ICU nurse's station with our thanks.  I am and we are oh-so-truly grateful that mom is on her way to recovery.

As much as all of the around-the-clock-care is a comfort, I can't wait for my mom to get home.  Home is where the heart is and for the house featured this week, also where the art is.  Have you all ever seen such a collection?  The common areas, kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms - it feels like every square inch is covered in art.  I love it, I really do but is anyone else thinking about what a pain it must have been to hang it all?  And now that I'm looking at it all again, it must have been such a pain but so worth it in the end.

Thanks for sticking with me y'all and here's to hoping for home.

  2. Great news about your mom! I hope you and your dad are using this time to rest up and gather strength for the home phase of her recovery.

Pretty cool house. I have to assume that if I could afford it, then I could also afford to pay someone to dust all of the art. :)

  3. So glad to hear about your mom and you! Peace of mind is such a great thing, isn't it? Nurses are so amazing, aren't they? Keeping you all in my thoughts.

There is so much to love about this house! From the beamed ceilings to the open shelves in the kitchen (we have them and love them) to the vaulted ceiling in that one bedroom. And then! You get outside. The art is amazing. Someone, I think Christine, pinned a kitchen with an oil painting in it. Awesomesauce.

  10. I'm so happy about your mom and I totally agree, nurses are the best!

I like the house a lot. I think if you can afford the 17 million {I'm assuming} cottage, you can afford to pay someone to hang your art. I do think it definitely would be a pain to do.

  12. So happy to hear that your mom is on her way to recovery and that the nurses were awesome. I've been in too many situations where the nurses couldn't care less and seem bothered if you ask them a question or request something. Grrrrrrr....It was very nice of you to drop off some goodies for them. As for the art, I think the hardest part is getting it up but you're right, so worth it.

  13. I'm so happy your mom is doing so well! That's such a relief and so wonderful to hear. I've been thinking about her and you this whole week. My two best friends are both nurses, and they really are saints. They do waaay more than doctors!
And give me that wall of paintings NOW. xo

  15. That is wonderful news about your mom! Wishing her a speedy recovery! Glad to hear she's receiving such pleasant and attentive care. Something like that can really make a difference and I'm sure the nurses appreciated that you took notice. Like teachers, they don't get enough acknowledgement sometimes.
