A mom is a terrible thing to waste

Society6
The call came on Friday evening at exactly 6:00 pm on the dot.

"Rooth, Dad and I just ate rotten noodles for dinner and now we're going to die."

My sister and dad, left to fend for themselves while my mom attended a week-long retreat at her temple, poisoning themselves with expired leftovers in the fridge.

"Is there any food in the house?" came the question from my end.

"Not unless you count rotten noodles," was her response.

So I went back to my parents' home that night with a big loaf of cheesy bread and a bottle of Tums.  And that, my friends, is what happens when you leave two fully grown and capable adults at home without mom to take care of them.  Hug and thank your moms the next time you see them!

  2. That call was awesome! I poisoned my father once by attempting to make pizza for him when my mother was away for the weekend {she makes it every weekend}. I couldn't squish the dough well enough and it was mostly raw. We were both sick from that one. :)

It's a good thing you can cook and know where the supermarket is!

  11. haha. i am the mom and even when i go outside (or to the bathroom) for a moment i can hear all my children start panicking and calling out "mama? maaaamaaaa?!" other than that they totally ignore me. i am sure it's a fear of where will they will get their next snack if mom has disappeared.

  12. lol, this is so funny but I have sympathy with them as well. I was left to fend for myself for a week because P had to go on a business trip and he's the one responsible for stocking the fridge and cooking. I lived on sandwiches and pasta for a week ;)

  13. Hahaha sometimes I wonder who needs to raise who! I'm glad no one needed to call poison control! Rooth to the rescue! xoxo

  15. Hahahaha! This made me laugh so hard. I wonder if anyone has actually ever died of eating rotten noodles? I bet it’s a delicacy somewhere in the world. Jordan and I recently discovered that we had been eating low fat spread that went off in December. The expiry date of those kinds of things tend to creep up on you: mayonnaise, spreads, jam, loose carrots etc etc.
