Springtime breeze

Finally!  A sunny weekend with the first warm weather since I left Houston.  I threw open the windows to the house and aired out all of the dust bunnies.  Springtime is time for big wide open windows, streaming sunlight and allergies galore.  Okay, so hopefully not allergies.  Really crossing my fingers for no allergies.

Don't homes with courtyards just seem so luxurious?  I like how this house opens up to a big bright courtyard  - it creates a bigger sense of space in the kitchen and the breakfast area.  And during the springtime, like now, it'd be wonderful to feel the cross breeze across the home and blow away all those winter cobwebs.  I also really like all of the art pieces scattered throughout the home, particularly the piece in the living room.  And what about those funky chairs?

Did you brush away any of those cobwebs this weekend?

  1. It would have been nice to open the windows over the weekend but it was still in the 30s. I was outside for a while and thought I might freeze. :)

I like the tuxedo sofa with the two bolsters and the courtyard. I would love a house with a courtyard someday. One of the chairs I think you are talking about is the Papa Bear chair by Hans Wegner.

  2. I would love to open a window! It's too cold though, it's at that point in winter where I start to wonder if it will ever actually get warm... Lovely house though!

  3. love the outside and the courtyard, but somehow the interiors seem too disconnected for my taste...

  4. That courtyard does add a lot to the place! The front of the house looks so ordinary, but the inside...holy smokes!

  6. I swear I'm allergic to Kansas. Allergies are the WORST, but I think I could handle it for a chance to leave those patio doors wide open! Happy Monday, Ruth! :)

  7. You found another doozy rooth! I have always wanted a courtyard in my house – I just love the open space it creates inside! I wish I was able to open the windows and clear the cobwebs this weekend but it was freezing so we ended up sitting huddled around the radiator. I live in hope that the warm weather is coming!

  9. This weekend was our big spring cleaning weekend. We spent over 5 hours cleaning our tiny 1-bedroom apartment. Why it takes 5 hours for 2 people to clean about a tiny apartment is beyond me but at least we were thorough!

  10. Courtyards are so awesome, I would kill for one, but I want my whole house wrapped around it in glass so you can get it to it from all 4 sides. And I think I want it covered with a greenhouse roof. So maybe and English countryside courtyard rather than this clean, modern one. But still. I'll take what I can get.

  11. Gosh my weekend is so short that I hardly have time for anything. It's like 2 minutes, and then it's Monday morning again. I do like this house :)

  13. i have a long standing dream of having a house with a center courtyard. i stayed in one in mexico once and it just had the most lovely feeling about it and, yes, the cross breeze was fantastic. we kicked off the spring with a little trip to the beach.

  14. I'm glad you finally got yourself a warm weekend! And I would have never guessed how fabulous this house is based on the front of the house. But that courtyard is to die!

  15. Great house! I really like the courtyard and the wall in the front. They provide privacy, but also provide a potential crook with privacy to operate. Motion sensors and good lighting would help balance that out.
