Burrowing away
As those of you who follow me on Instagram already know, poor Ike has still not recovered. When the vet examined him on Friday, he found out that the swelling on his foot had not gone down because there were MAGGOTS burrowing inside his wound and eating his flesh and muscle. Can you believe that?!? His foot has spent the weekend completely wrapped up, bandaged, taped, and heavily medicated. I've been hand walking him, especially in the glorious weather today, and he was just dancing in place to be outside again. We'll be unwrapping it tomorrow and I'll keep you guys posted on how it looks. Fingers crossed!
Now to another type of burrow (sorry, that's as elegant of a transition as I can manage), this sweet home was built in the 1930s and restored every so prettily. I am in love with the merging of the darkly painted dining room and gleaming white kitchen - and a big yes to the open shelving. Also, as it feels like I've been on a rug hunt for forever, I can't help but want the rug in the kitchen as well as all of the ones in the bedrooms. And that sunroom screams Rooth's writing room. I'm sure the light is perfect in the mornings.

It sounds like Ike is feeling pretty chipper. That's a good sign.
ReplyDeleteI like this house. All I would need to do is get rid of the rug in front of the fireplace and fill up the wine cooler with Fresca. :)
wonderful inspirations

ewwwwww how horrid! Hope all those horrible wriggly burrowers have gone!!
ReplyDeleteOh my God so sorry sweetie! Hope he gets better very very VERY soon!
ReplyDeleteOh, Ike . . . poor fellow! Hoping for a good report today!
ReplyDeleteLove the house, by the way--and their eclectic furniture. They have some great pieces . . .
The house is beautiful! But I am so sorry to hear about Ike! Poor little guy! Hope he will do better soon! I am sending good thoughts and hugs!
ReplyDeleteOMG, poor Ike, sniff! May he get well posthaste!
ReplyDeleteThat home? Maaaaan! Too freakin' snazzy! LOVE.
BIG YES to the open shelving for me too.
ReplyDeleteAnd hope Ike's foot is better soon. Poor guy:(
Poor Ike!! That's so scary! I hope he's not in too much pain (though I am from just imagining that scenario!). As for this house: I love that duvet cover in the first bedroom. Reversible gets me every time!
ReplyDeleteI've been worried about Ike all weekend, poor man. I'm glad he's chipper and ready to go, but what.a.mess. Please keep us posted on how he's feeling. How often do you get to see him? I'd want to be there every day, every minute!
ReplyDeleteNow. This house. So much to say! I'm quite envious of it actually. We have a mid-1930s home (1936), and I think these guys have done a much nicer job of opening it up than we could have. The whole place just feels so open, which is what I crave. I love that all window, nooky, officey room. And open shelving in the kitchen? We have them, and I will never ever have anything else. :)
hope ike gets well soon. and i so love that kitchen!
ReplyDeleteoh ike :( i am going to go ahead and put having a wound that gets infested with maggots at the top of my nightmare list. just seeing that on someone else will have to be second. oh my goodness. poor poor ike. poor roothers. eating muscle? that has to hurt. give him a bucket of apples and carrots for me.
ReplyDeleteoh i love your writing room! and that first bedroom too, the colors are really pretty. an that dresser in there. i will take one of those!
Oh my goodness, poor Ike! I'm so glad the vet figured out what was wrong so he can really heal now. Poor baby :(
ReplyDeleteso sorry about ike. ouch. i hope it's healing better now! i love the white lighting in the kitchen. i have yellow lighting mostly through my rental and it kills me.. especially with the cream colored walls. ugh.! :)
ReplyDeleteOh no, Ike!!!! Poor guy :( Yes, keep us posted...I hope he's ok tomorrow. Glad he enjoyed being outside so much!
ReplyDeleteawww poor guy :( hopefully he will get better soon. :(
ReplyDeletewhat a quant and gorgeous bungalow.
Oh no, I hope that Ike gets better soon! I'm glad that the vet figured out what was going on so he can finally start healing.
ReplyDeletePoor Ike, at least maggots only eat dead skin so they probably didn't do too much extra damage. I shouldn't know these things. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this house, the trim, the floors, the light. I also like that it's brick.
Oh my gosh, I hope Ike feels better soon! That sounds awful.
ReplyDeleteThis house on the other hand...gorgeous. Love! (Talk about rough transitions.)
Poor Ike! Hope it gets better. Maggots sound and are horrible!
