Ink of Me
Don't assume that everyone will know Britishisms.  Your lone giggle because someone used the word 'knob' in the title of a presentation will reverberate around the conference room like a snare drum.

  1. This reminds me of an awkward moment when I laughed out loud in the middle of a serious business meeting because of something I was thinking. Everyone stopped and those minutes were the longest and I wanted to disappear. :)

  2. I hope that wasn't anyone I know. At first I thought the outline on the left was of a single cat claw, ready to strike. Then I realized it was Despicable.

  4. ha. i had to look up what knob meant in british slang. the "today" show on nbc didn't cover that in their british word of the day during the olympics! :) i remember the word herb wasn't such a good word. it meant loser. my friend used it a lot. then we graduated college and then her supervisor's name ended up being herb which stunned her for a few minutes because she had no idea that it could be a person's name and then the giggles came. oh how immature we were!

  8. I don't blame you, and would have been giggling right along with you. I have a hard time keeping a straight face when my boss's GPS says "round about".

  12. A-hahaha! It's a good thing we weren't there together, or we would have been excused from the meeting for sure!

You gotta love those moments. I was working on a project at work when the lady meant to indicate the job had to be done by hand. Only she took out 'had to be done by' and switched the other two words, if you know what I mean and I think that you do. My co-worker and I just stopped for a few minutes, trying to hold back our snickers. Finally, the other said, "Oh, lovey, don't ever say that aloud again . . . " Then we all started laughing. Good times. :)
