Not-so secret garden

Beautiful, beautiful summer weekend here.  The crepe myrtles are in full bloom, well, the ones that are still alive in my parents' yard.  Let's just say our family black thumb has continued killing off every living plant that they come in contact with.  Which is completely unlike the owners of this home.  'In bloom' doesn't even start to describe the grounds of the estate featured this week.  I don't really know much about plants but it's so impressive I'm not even showing pictures of the interior.  Let's see... koi pond - check, pool with waterfall - check, rose garden - check.  Now all we need to do is add peacocks and unicorns wandering around the lawn, looking for fair maidens.  I'm over here, pick me pick me!

  1. Oh my! I shudder to think what this beautiful garden would look like if I got my hands on it (I have the cursed black thumb too).

  2. The house looks quite British actually, doesn't it? Also, I desperately want to frolic in those flower beds.

  3. I was going to say French, which is the same thing in more ways than either would care to admit. Fair maiden reminds me of an ancient song:
Now tell me pretty maiden are there any more at home like you?
There are a few, kind sir. But simple girls and proper too.

  6. As a lifelong city girl I'm mentally adding up all the maintenance work that would need to be done on a regular basis. Zoinks. I can hire out for that, right?

  7. GASP! I love this place . . . love, love, love it! Can you even stand the red trim, with the red flowers? Sigh.

Obviously, they put a bit more time into planning. I tend to grab things I think are pretty and plant . . . all willy-nilly like.

  16. Oh wow, the landscaping is STUNNING. Hard to believe that if I got my hands on that it would all die. I'm horrible with plants of any sort.
