Idyllic summer weekend

This weekend was what every summer weekend should be about - loads and loads of popsicles (I made mango lassi and, separately, Vietnamese coffee ones), sweating my socks off, vegging out in front of the tv when it's too hot out and reading one of the best books I've read all year (I'm going to keep you all in suspense about that one a little longer).  Not gonna lie, I'm having mini anxiety attacks knowing that July is almost over and we're going to head back into fall eventually here.  That and realizing the year is more than half over and I'm still trying to find my bearings.

I feel like the house this week is kind of like me - stuck in the middle of summer.  I know I said I would stop overusing the word "love" when blogging but I really do love everything about it.  I love the large, mature trees in the neighborhood.  I love the whites and greys acting as a neutral palette for the punchy teals and oranges.  I even love that weird floor in the kitchen / living room area.  What is that anyway??  And the backyard of course.  So there's no pool but you've still gotta love the deck in the backyard.  You can sit and watch the fireflies dart around the bushes and pretend that summer is going to last forever.

  2. "Love" is probably the one word that cannot be overused :-) It's hot here too which I love and I'm the same as you: the thought of Autumn just makes me come out in a cold sweat. Not so keen on that house, I think the last picture is my favourite and as it's an outside one, it probably shows that it's not really my cup of tea on the inside ;-) Have a lovely week ahead xo

  3. Wow, you certainly expressed a lotta love for this house! I think that means you'll have one like it a few years down the road. Fall is a time for going back to school. Doesn't that stir pleasant memories for you?

PS - I love mango lassi!!!

  4. Ah, good old mid-century modern. And that patio . . . I do love the patio.

Summer cannot go quickly enough for me. But I'm one of those weird autumn people.

  5. Oh yes.

Yes. I'm on board. Someday, someday. I'll have my mid-century dream. That deck? Love it. There's really nothing I don't love here, you're right.

You want to hear something sad? We haven't been to the beach yet. :(

  9. I was doing exactly the same over weekend! I had a lot of lollies to cool myself down. The house is lovely but it wasn't for me, it looks a little too hotel-y. The kitchen is lookiing pretty rad though.

I am glad that you liked my artwork :)

  13. I hear you, girl. almost august, and it still feels like getting ready for a race, being right in the middle of it, and training for another one already, all at the same time....

  14. i think it's impossible to have a blog and not use the word love - unless you only blogged about things you didn't like and that wouldn't be nearly as much fun.

i feel the same about summer, i am starting to feel the end coming closer and i want to yell "nooooo!" why can't summer be longer?

  16. You know, I've been having mini panic attacks that summer is still here. :) This week is a bit better. I love my Vietnamese iced coffee on the days I can't stay awake, it's like injecting caffeine straight into my veins.

I love this house. I hope you buy it. There's room for a pool in the backyard and I'll totally visit.
