A house divided

I love everything about this house.  I love that there's a main house with two bedrooms and the 500 square foot guest house with two bedrooms.  It's big enough for me and Frenchie.  I love the amount of natural light that streams in through the living room windows but also the fact that the lot is surrounded by large, mature trees.  I love how the current owners have decorated and furnished the home.  The main house is only 1,150 square feet and they have kept everything very simple, tasteful and smart.  I love how there are not superfluous living areas and I'm daydreaming about the meals / projects / drinks that we could have gathered around a rough hewn dining room table.  I love the gravel outdoor entertaining area in the backyard and the large windows to the guest house.  I think I must have a fascination with guest houses but that's only because I someday hope that I'll be able to have my friends and family come visit or stay with me for an extended amount of time.  I could also use it as a writer's studio when it's unoccupied (okay, now I'm really dreaming).

  1. This house looks eerily like my own house (minus the guest house and awesome bathroom). but you know what you would miss? Closets. Oh, how I miss closets. (Also, I am not that good of a decorator. replace everything in these pics with kid crap and ikea furniture and the outside with peeling paint. glamorous!)

  3. So, is the house for sale and you're going to get it? It's a really cute house! I like how they make the bedroom looks big and cozy. My house is just a tiny bit larger and we have 2 tiny bedrooms.

Oh, also lovee the doors going to the backyard. That would be a luxury to have!

  10. I really wish they built houses like this in England. Well, they might do somewhere but they certainly haven't built any near me. It'd be just the right size too. So many people rattle off a massive great mansion when asked about their dream house but it'd be a nightmare for me. Apart from keeping the thing tidy, I don't want to feel like my house is about to swallow me whole or that my breathing is echoing. I'd feel lonely.

Unfortunately, some genius decided that it would be a far better idea to built house after house, all identical in huge, ugly lines, all stuck together. It's probably a space saving measure, I just wish they'd come up with one that's a little less claustrophobic. You do get the odd house that isn't the same as every other house as far as the eye can see but they usually have a huge house valuation on top of them.
