Falling behind

I don't know what happened this year folks.  I am typically on the ball or even early with my Christmas decorations and Christmas shopping.  Somehow this month, "behind" doesn't even seem to cover it.  My holiday cards haven't arrived, I have no idea what to buy my parents and my UPS guy mentioned that I've been slacking in the online shopping department.  I didn't even read the book for tonight's book club (a first!).  It's as though my brain just took a break after Thanksgiving and never turned itself back on.

I spent this past weekend trying to play catch up - with work, your blogs and random household stuff like laundry and dishes.  I even managed to put the tree together on Sunday evening.  But I'll be spending the next few days trying to get back into full holiday mode, possibly put some Christmas lights out on the patio  and maybe even plan out some blog posts for the first time in months.

In the meantime, I'll be hopping over to your blogs to see what y'all have been up to and also to get some motivation.  Time to get my rear into gear!

  2. Try some Christmas music, that always gets me going and motivated to get festive stuff done. Christmas shopping is totally stressing me out this year though.

  5. You have a tree though and that's a big undertaking. It looks nice!

It's funny that your UPS person is actually nice and it sounds like they even deliver the packages to you. Here they either toss it onto people's porch from the sidewalk {no lie, we used to watch one guy do this from the window at work} or drop it off somewhere in the yard for a treasure hunt. We consider ourselves lucky if they drop it on the front porch and ring the doorbell as they run away. :)

  6. YOU didn't read the book club book?

I don't have my Christmas cards out yet, either. Need to work on those today.

  7. You opened with "falling behind" and closed with getting your "rear into gear". I have no point. :)

This is so un-rooth-like. But now that you have your mind set, I am sure you'll be lapping the rest of us by the end of the week. You move with amazing efficiency when you want to.

  8. That cracks me ups that your UPS man mentioned you're slacking in the online shopping dept. Good times . . . :)

And I'm with Ricademus--come Friday you'll probably be done with everything, except maybe for a few sprinkles on the sugar cookies, while we'll be left to sip our hot cocoa in shame.

  9. I am totally stuck on what to get my dad for Christmas this year. Today and tomorrow are all about catching up for me, IF I can get everyone figured out. And that's a big if. So, as my friend in Nebraska says, "I hear ya cluckin' big chicken."

  10. You're allowed to get a little behind. It's a hectic season full of a ton of stresses and a seemingly endless to do list! Take a big break and just enjoy it.

  11. I hear you, I was trying so hard to get ahead and then I was given a beat down by the flu and now I am not only not ahead but behind as well. Grrr. I still don't have my tree up so you are ahead of me there! Yours look lovely by the way.

  12. At least you have your tree standing and decorated. I didn't even get to that yet ;)

  13. I don't think you're the only one. It's kinda creeped up on everyone here too. And there's this mad rush (especially at the Malls!) to get things done :)

  16. I hear ya. My cold last week put me really behind, and on top of that it was hard to get my mojo back. It certainly doesn't help that this is the busiest month of the year. I just ordered my holiday cards last night. Stayed up until 11pm! Way past my bedtime.

  17. My Jewish butt is not in gear, thankfully, because there's no Christmas for me :) I feel sorry for all my super stressed friends hunting down presents and such. Good luck with your own shopping!

  19. Ugh, me too. I used to be so on top of this season. I'm way behind and the pressure of the day fast approaching is not helping!
