A little too late
Hello darlings - I hope you had a marvelous weekend. I spent the weekend with my sister down in Austin and look forward to sharing some of those pictures with you later this week.
The city has grown by leaps and bounds since I was there as a student and even within the past year. If I were smarter, I would have bought real estate in East and South Austin when I was in college because you now have 2,000 square foot bungalows in those areas selling for close to $1mm. This little home that I've featured was originally built as a hunting cabin for Texas Governor Coke Stevenson in 1937 and was completely gutted and renovated in 2004. It now sits smack dab in the middle of the city with a backyard oasis that's really hard to beat.
It only goes to show, I know nothing about investing in real estate and can only look wistfully at the beautiful little gems in Austin. The rising real estate prices are only making my dream of owning a vacation home there even tougher. Maybe I will just have to be content with a van down by the river...

Love that stone feature on the house in the first photo. Stone walls are so beautiful and hard to come by these days...all the hard work and labour that goes into it!
ReplyDeleteMotivational speaker rooth! :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing interior, I love the openness of space with lots of natural light.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful home! Just the right size.
ReplyDeleteLUXESSED
what's wrong with a van by the river. I've just been to a hotel made entirely of camping vans. and it was pretty damn cool :)
ReplyDeleteI definitely was not expecting the inside to look like that, but LOVE it!!! That kitchen is fantastic...I want a really big kitchen one of these days!
ReplyDeleteA van down by the river . . . *snicker*
ReplyDeleteAs for the house--love! I love the bright, open interior and the peaceful patio. *sigh*
Gosh, hindsight is 20/20, isn't it? I want to go back 10 years and buy up a bunch of real estate in Philly, too, haha. I love the pool in the backyard of this house!
ReplyDeleteI like that pool
ReplyDeleteThat kitchen looks like it was made for entertaining - love!
ReplyDeleteI would love to live there <3

Wow, just looking at the outside of that home, I did not expect an interior like that. It's gorgeous! I had no idea home prices in Austin were rising so quickly. I always thought of it as a cool, affordable place to live but I guess the coolness is making those prices rise.
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't end up in a van down by the river, or as a motivational speaker that crashes coffee tables. :)
Ok, I totally love everything about this home. The outside is so unique, but I love how modern the inside is! I'm looking forward to seeing your photos from your weekend :)
ReplyDeleteI went to Austin for the first time back in March and loved it so much out there. Can't wait to see the photos from your trip.

Another stunner, Rooth! That space...sigh....and u know, I know nothing about real estate either. Let's be van neighbours by the river!
ReplyDeleteOMG! Wow. It's lovely! I love the coziness of it all.
ReplyDeleteHow awesome is that bedroom? And that bed makes me want to sleep right now :P
ReplyDeletewow that is gorrrgeous! it looks way bigger on the inside
ReplyDeletethis would be my realistic dream - but perhaps somewhere where the real estate is still on the lower end of things. i love how beautiful this home is but yet totally livable and reasonable. on a side note i have always wanted to visit austin, i hear portland and austin are really similar in their culture, but austin is warmer and i like that : )
ReplyDeleteThis is a great house. I like how simple it is inside! My favorite part would be the kitchen! :D
ReplyDeleteThat home is perfection. Chic but still very homey.
ReplyDeleteI spent the day photographing two beautiful houses today (going from traditional to midcentury modern in one swoop), and still, this might be my one of my faves. I was really liking it, and then I saw the pool. HEAVEN.
ReplyDeleteThis house is so cute! Love the open and airy bedroom under the roof.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful home! I love it.
