Drum roll please

The Thanksgiving table in all of its glittering glory!

A big big thank you to Anna at Dear Friend for her tutorial on glitter circles and to Jeanine at I Heart Interiors for providing the inspiration for my paper turkeys.  The gold and white theme worked out spectacularly well and our Thanksgiving table has never looked so classy.  Hanging the gold and white circles from the chandelier worked really well and my mom wants to leave them up there until after Christmas.

I also grabbed a bunch of pictures of the feast.  My dad and I coordinated our oven timing pretty darn perfectly.  This year I made: rolls, pumpkin s'more pie, hot buttered rum pie, kimchi mashed potatoes, thyme butternut squash and apple cider sangria.  It was my first time ever baking pie and making pie dough from scratch and (luckily) it was a success.  If you want any recipes, let me know and I'll gladly send them over.  My dad roasted the turkey using an Alton Brown recipe and also made stuffing and a handful of Chinese dishes.  Mom made cranberry salad and generally cleaned up after all of us.  I was so darn tired after cooking all day Thursday that I didn't leave the house at all for any shopping hi jinks on Friday.

How about y'all?  I hope you guys had a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family!

  1. I love the turkeys! I also love those glitter circles {or really anything with glitter}, they would also look nice on a tree. It's great you cooked so much. I called it a day after making the cranberry sauce. It was really good though :)

  6. Beautiful table, rooth! We've never been able to make a pie with a decent crust, so I think it's pretty amazing you succeeded the first time out. You have a gift for baking. Did you like the butternut squash? I would like to see the recipe for the buttered rum pie. Does it include apples???

    1. I've had some interesting cranberry creations over the years, but the canned stuff is still #1. Years of childhood programming made it a favorite.

  8. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I love the pictures you took - especially the pie. Yum!

We had two big meals on Thursday, and had to take naps throughout the day. I am still full from Thanksgiving dinner and don't know how I'm going to make it to the office tomorrow morning for work :p

  15. Looks like a fabulous celebration! And I love your sparkly circles. Growing up we had a chandelier, and my mom would hang Christmas balls from the branches. So festive! It's one thing I truly miss . . .

  26. How elegant looking it turned out - bravo! I have totally turned into Monica many times, even more during the holiday when stuff from storage is brought in and there is hardly any room to move about in our foyer with stacked boxes labeled "Xmas stuff'. I ended up shoving the boxes into the den + closing the door :) it's finally a bit back to normal. Happy post Thanksgiving!!! I ended up going to the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Parade in NY (it was soooo much fun! pics on my blog), the zooming back home to cook. Have a GREAT day Rooth! Happy Holidays!!
