This is a stick up!
Have you all seen this stunning exhibit by Yayoi Kusama at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art (found via notcot.org and pictures via here)? Kusama set up an all white room as her blank canvas and then gave the children visitors thousands of dot stickers for them to stick wherever their little hearts desired. They turned this very sterile almost-IKEAesque environment into an explosion of colour, which is appropriately named The Obliteration Room. I never get tired of looking at the pictures of the transformation - it makes me smile real big. Who didn't love putting stickers all over the place when they were children? My bedroom at home still has gobs of permanent stickers that my sister and I stuck everywhere when we were kids. We just found her old Lisa Frank stickers last month - guess what rainbow surprise accompanied each gift tag for Christmas?
Pretty amazing! :-)
ReplyDeleteAMAZING! wow.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is mind blowing - I'd be interested to know what it would look like if adults had to go in and put dots everywhere. I wonder if adults would be more careful with placement. So interesting! Thanks for sharing and thank you for stopping by Hogger & Co.! Happy new year!
ReplyDeleteoh wow, this is amazing! I wouldn't have minded doing that myself as a kid :)
ReplyDeleteDang, this is such a riot!!!!! It's kind of a cool thing to do for parties too - blank canvas and let your guests do the work!
ReplyDeleteI saw this and immediately fell in love! What a great idea.

Wow, what a cool post. I love that you showed this because I've never seen it and it's crazy to see that completely white room and then all the bright stickers although the last pic was a bit of an overload, too much for my eyes. hehe. Couldn't imagine living in a room that bright.

Lisa Frank...that's hilarious! I still have mine tucked away. I was sticker-obsessed as a kid (and maybe still am)...I had actually counted over 5,000 stickers when I was little. haha. This exhibit by Yayoi Kusama is amazing!
