Green machine
Whew! This weekend has been busy busy busy and I have lots of pictures and stories to share with y'all. The 90th birthday bash was this past Saturday and we took family portraits with the grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins on Sunday. I look forward to sharing those posts with y'all later this week.
From the ivy covered facade to the green tile bathroom, the ole home this week is a valuable little gem in a quaint older neighborhood. I haven't seen a telephone cubby hole in ages and they just don't make houses like this anymore. The kitchen has been updated recently and I am quite the fan of the gleaming white look.
PS - Do claw foot tubs remind anyone of scary movies? I'd be afraid of pulling the shower curtain back from a tub like that and seeing a ghost or dead person floating in the bath water. ::Shudder::

Now this is a house I could call home!
ReplyDeleteI do love a good claw foot tub. But it has to look new, and situated so you can see around it from all four sides (I'm more concerned with creepy crawlers :).
This house is cute.I thought I was the only one who doesnt like claw foot tub because it reminds me of horror movies - especially with the curtains around it! Thankfully I don't have a bath tub like that.
ReplyDeleteAlways nice to see when historical details are preserved: like with the phone station and the tub.
ReplyDeleteOMG! How endearing is that phone cubby hole. And you know, I actually like that claw foot on the tub, but I can totally see why it would be freaky:O
ReplyDeleteOut of all the houses you've posted, this looks like the most livable by far. It looks like an actual family lives there, not some uber-chic fancy rich couple. I love claw foot tubs, my last apartment had one. But I totally get the horror movie references! They are used a lot in that respect, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteSigh - I´d LOVE to have a kitchen like that... That´s some room to create and bake in - maybe one day..! :-)
ReplyDeleteOh I love little telephone cubby holes. THOSE remind me of old, scary movies for some reason....
ReplyDeleteI agree with the phone cubbies comment above... I love it!!! My grandmother had one of those
ReplyDeleteThe house I grew up in had a little phone cubbie. I always thought it was the dearest thing! I agree with Erin that this house feels most livable. It reminds me of houses I used to see in some of my favorite neighborhoods in CA. In fact, I'm feeling pretty envious of that little house right now! ;) And claw foot tubs. Ahhhhh...my favorite part is how deep they are. Good for long soaks!
ReplyDeletetubs like that didn't remind me of scary movies, but now they will! I think I still like them though, they're so pretty!
ReplyDeletewhat an elegant place! i have a little phone cubby like that in my place, not quite as ornate but i love little charming features like that. of course it holds a vase and not a phone . . . i also have tons of ivy on the outside of my house, but that's where the commonalities end. my whole house could probably fit in two rooms in this place! so, so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe phone in the wall is pretty creepy too, in a meglomaniac crazy father ruling over an oppressed household where no one is allowed to use the phone but him so he keeps it where he can keep an eye on it and then one day he finds it a quarter of an inch out of place so he ends up losing it and killing everyone kind of way... If you know what I mean.
ReplyDeleteha, no, I like the bath tubs. they are quite common in old English hotels. I'd be one smelly traveller if I would avoid them :)
ReplyDeletehappy monday xx
I've been pretty busy too. Nice pics as always. I miss your blog sometimes :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe my family was never fancy enough to have a phone cubby, but I definitely like it. And I never thought about dead bodies in claw foot tubs before. They will never be the same - too many horror films and a simple suggestion can do so much. :)
ReplyDeleteps. I always had the impression that moon cakes were kind of like fruit cakes. Maybe I'm wrong?
I absolutely love clawfoot tubs, but you're right - there's something sort of creepy about them.
ReplyDeleteThis house is super cute! Love clawfoot tubs but got the horror movie feeling when seeing the phone cubbie. Although it's cool the phone looks like it might attract a crazy person calling. I can see myself picking up the phone and somebody asks me "What's your favorite scary movie?"...
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh! I love this! And clawfoot tubs do remind me of scary movies... but I can't help but want one anyway. Lol.
ReplyDeleteI hope your family (especially your grandparents) had a great time. I look forward to those posts.
ReplyDeleteEven though the house doesn't have a front porch, I like it. The double oven helps make up for no porch.
This looks like a real home. Would love to live in a place like this.
ReplyDeleteLOL, that last photo DOES remind me of "What lies beneath..."
ReplyDeleteRonnie xo
Gorgeous house!!! I love it :)) Can't wait to hear all about the birthday bash.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I totally agree with you on the tubs.
P.P.S. Thank you so much for the card! It totally made my day!!
the house looks LOVELY, haha ya those type of tubs freak me out too. it's definitely a horror movie tub!
ReplyDeleteI love the kitchen! That's always my favorite part of any home :)
ReplyDeleteAnd yes to the bathtub. I always think of horror movies as well!
PS...did you know your email isn't linked to your blog...so when you comment on mine I can't email you back?!
ReplyDeleteHaha I love claw foot tubs, but they ARE a little creepy now that I think about it. Can't wait to see photos of the party!
ReplyDeletewow that house is beauuuuutiful. i love houses with charm and character like these..
ReplyDeleteLove these photos! What a wonderful place to call home.
ReplyDeleteTHAT KITCHEN. and i feel the same about clawfoot tubs in old houses.. a clawfoot tub in a modern home somewhat not as scary.
ReplyDeleteWow such a cool shot of that bedroom, looks so serene and cozy!
