Spacing out
Sigh, it's been a disappointing football weekend for me again - hope your teams have had better luck than my teams have. To hide my shame and embarrassment, I might just zoooom away in this spaceship / house. This home is smack dab in the middle of a historical neighborhood in Houston and its bold architectural elements are reflected inside the home as well. I like how the tall two-story room is being used as an artist's studio - I could easily see that being my office / library and the bookshelves extending all the way up to the ceiling. I'm not a fan of the fish tank being the separator in the master suite from the bedroom to the bathroom but at least this house has some quirks that make it unique, unlike a lot of cookie cutter type homes. And who knows, it very well could take you to infinite and beyond with that purple beacon glowing into the night. I wonder if you could change the colour to suit your mood. Green would be incredibly eerie.
Here in Houston?? Really?? O.K., that shouldn't surprise me...there is so much diversity in the population that it must reflect in the architecture. Such contemporary style...it makes me sooooo curious about the lives of the owners.
ReplyDeleteI like the bathroom and roof-top terrace, but my tastes run more to the traditional, with a few quirks rather than the modern with quirks.
ReplyDeleteWest Virginia got lucky and that hurt the team's confidence this week. Hopefully they can still make a bowl game.
My jaw dropped over the image of the bathroom..
ReplyDeleteBathrooms really need to look cool for the happiness of the house!
I can imagine the artist studio transforming into a floor to ceiling library as you said. That would be beautiful if ever. There are a lot of hard edges but it has a character of its own. Any space with grand piano in it, I like.
ReplyDeleteIt looks a bit like a church from the outside. I like the interior.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I ordered your graphic novel recommendation on eBay! xo
LUXESSED
it was a great sports weekend for me. I successfully managed to not do anything myself and to not catch one glimpse of anything on tv :) happy monday xxx
ReplyDeleteI am not really into watching sports on TV, the only football game I watch is the super bowl ;) I would feel watched by the fish when lying in bed. The big soaker tub in the bathroom is calling my name...
ReplyDeleteThat's in the middle of a historical neighborhood? Wha . . . Why?!
ReplyDeleteOkay, you want to know my first thought? Mormon Temple. Ha! I don't mind me some modern, and in fact, I don't really mind it plunked down in the middle of a historical neighborhood...I like an eclectic mix. That being said, this one might be a bit much for me. I do like the bedrooms, and that bathroom. Hello. Yes.
ReplyDeleteHorrible sports weekend for me too. AND, since I'm a Peyton Manning fan, and my son is a Chargers fan, there's no way I can win tonight. :(
There's something that feels a little unsafe about a bed right in the middle of a room. I at least need to have my head or back to a wall. I'm not sure I could sleep in a room like that.
ReplyDeleteI'm not crazy about the architecture...mlooks a little like a church
ReplyDeleteWOW, this home is amazing! I love anything space related, especially homes that can integrate that style in. I love all the clean lines of this home, and that pool looks great!
ReplyDeleteThat outdoor space is so pretty!
ReplyDeletethe house makes me feel a wee bit confused. i think if you are going that bold you kind of need both feet in the water - as is it's a little bit space-age traditional. Maybe they were just trying to enrage the neighbors with the architecture and purple light ; )
ReplyDeleteDisappointing football (and baseball) weekend for us too. The Cowboys were up by 10 when I left for brunch but I came home to a big fat Loss. Then the bf was disappointed by the 49ers and SF Giants losses. Oh well. There's always next weekend.
ReplyDeleteThat house is very cool, with a lot of personality, but I typically like homes just a little bit warm & cozier. :)
I love futuristic houses that are minimal yet manage to still be warm and inviting. That staircase is wonderful!

I wonder what the point of that purple beacon is....hmmm.
ReplyDeleteLove the white bed and white headboard.
I just felt like shouting, "To infinity, and beyond!" after seeing this house:P Really kinda cool in quirky way, Rooth! And sorry to read about ur football team...although I don't really watch American football....do u mean soccer? ;)
ReplyDeleteThat kitchen is just awesome :)
ReplyDeleteI love it! It's so modern and right up my alley. I love that entryway, and that piece of art on the wall above the entry console. I love the use of frosted glass walls downstairs. I'm a big fan!
ReplyDeletePersonal - not for me but I do enjoy seeing it. :-)
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful and unique! I love the wood flooring!

i like all of the lines of this house.
ReplyDeleteThe house looks so grand on the outside, but the rooms seem small, don't they? Or do you think it's just the photos? Anyway, it's quite impressive and, yes, unique (i.e., not cookie cutter, at all).
ReplyDeletePS~Sorry about the football.
holy cow! look at all that glass! It's so nice to look at.
ReplyDeleteSign indeed! Theses are all superb! Beautiful and so modern.
