If you lived at Restoration Hardware

There was a little nip in the air today and I had to wear a jacket when I went out for a walk this evening.  Could it be that fall is finally here?  I think it's actually only here for a day - it'll be back to the mid-80s this coming week.  I hope that you guys got a little taste of fall weather as well and took advantage of the cooler weather to participate in some fun outdoor activities.

When I first saw this house, the first thing that popped into my mind was "WTF."  Did Restoration Hardware lend their entire collection to the designers to stage the home?  And why would you pick Restoration Hardware to outfit an entire home?  They admittedly have some really unique pieces and I am a big fan of their lighting fixtures.  But it is a little overboard and even a little too much steampunk for me.  That being said, the open floor plan combining the formal living room, dining room, kitchen and den make for a perfect entertaining space if you're not using the enormous deck in the backyard.  I'd also love to have a two way fireplace that's shared with the kitchen in my future home.

So do you guys think it's a little much?

  1. Oh wow. It is very very grand isn't it? I think I'd be a bit too scared/overwhelmed to live in a place that looks like that.

  2. I do like the layout of the house, the way all the spaces fall nicely together and love the dining area.

  3. Perhaps a tad too much but there are elements about it that I adore - the layout of the kitchen, the benches by the front door and of course that beautiful bath!

  4. yes, too much. feels overly designed. like a show home. but if you'd tone it down a bit it would be lovely... happy monday xx

  5. Oh my, that is a Restoration Hardware home! Although, I have to say, it's quite fun to look at--it may even be a grand place to write (if you lean toward Sci Fi/Fantasy). But live there? Um, no thank you . . .

  6. Hmmm...it might be a *little* much, but I'm still digging it. Especially that chandelier. Fantastic!!

  7. Oooh I love it!! It's totally over the top steampunk and a Restoration Hardware catalog on steroids, but I love it! That kitchen is amaaaazing.

  8. Wow I would spend ALL of my time on that deck ... so ideal. I also love the marble countertops in the kitchen! Happy Monday!

  9. It certainly is beautiful but I have a feeling that it can only be kept like that on pictures! I mean for a home home, maybe not too practical.

  10. I love restoration hardware but that's a little too much for me. It looks more like a showroom than a home!

  11. I'm really not liking the kitchen or living room, it almost feels a bit uninviting right? But on the other hand I wouldn't mind hanging out on the back patio.

  12. Ehum, well - yes, pretty much too much but fun. As long as I don´t have to live there..! :-D

  13. Is this really someone's house?! I can't imagine living there - it's so catalogy

  14. I love the lounge - with the Eiffel Tower! And the bedroom looks amazing too. I can't wait to get my own luscious place *dreamy sigh*

  15. Holy Restoration Hardware Batman! While there are elements that I'd pull out that I like here and there, I can't say that the vibe I get here is one I like. Someone up thread said it: too catalogy. Not warm. And a bit over-stuffed and over the top for me. I'll pass.

  16. haha...I totally got what you meant about the Restoration Hardware comment after I saw the photos. Cool decor, but you're right...it's a bit overboard! I like the concept, but the home always feels lacking in personality because it's so harsh.

  17. Hahahaha...very Restoration Hardware indeed! I do kinda like the house, but to be honest, even if I had the money, I don't think I'll ever decorate my house like this.

  18. It is a bit overkill...I think "less is more" is a good way to decorate, or dress successfully! If the decor was toned down a little bit it would be perfect!

  19. I'm dying over the lit-up Eiffel Tower! But yeah, Restoration Hardware all in one place is definitely overwhelming. Have you been to the new concept store in Highland Village? It definitely has too much going on!

  20. Fall is here, I had to use the furnace today. It's supposed to be a little warmer later in the week.

About the house, it looks like a place I'd enjoy visiting, but I wouldn't want to live there.

  21. I wouldn't feel at home there. Interesting concept though!

  22. My oh my that's whole lotta metal detail in that house, and as for the carved dude at the front door....hmmmm....

  24. Wow, you're so right. Talk about wearing one designer from head to toe. Don't the stagers know better? ;) I do like pieces and parts of it.

  25. Oh my!!! I don't think this type of home is my type, it is definitely a bit much!

  26. Woah! At first, I thought those pictures were OF restoration hardware. Nice home, but I think I would feel overwhelmed living in it. Haha!
