Recent reads: Summer 2012 Part One

I blame all the travel and airplane/port time for my bank account's sudden depletion toward Amazon.com.  And Amazon.com, I am very disappointed in you.  <Gives stern look>  Charging tax for goods sold in Texas now?  For shame!

All of these books have been incredibly entertaining to read - in fact, I picked up the very tippy top one, Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter, at the airport today on my way back from Phoenix and finished it this evening.  Fire Season by Philip Connors is actually dogeared and underlined to death because of the dry humor by Mr. Connors and the tips I'm picking up from him for dealing with solitude, gracefully or not.  I'm pretty pumped because I ordered a whole slew of books last week and will be getting them tomorrow.  I'll need to hang a Do Not Disturb sign on my door and just wile away the summer days.  Or maybe until I crave human contact again.

If you want to discuss any of these books or hear more about them, please feel free to message me!  I love to share my thoughts and feelings about my recent reads.

  2. OOh, I love this and you have a great selection here. I'm surprised that 50 Shades of Grey isn't in here, lol. I feel like everyone is reading that.
Great post and that is so funny about your friend that was in the fashion show. He was definitely best dressed when I saw him

  7. Looks like you have a few takers for a review of the Abe Lincoln book. It seems like a strange mash-up, but Lincoln is interesting and vampire stories are interesting, so how could I not be interested? =)

I used to work near Ford's Theater. The "house where Lincoln died" is across the street and around the corner is the Wok and Roll restaurant, semi-famous for occupying the address where conspirators planned the assassination. Wait, were the conspirators vampires??? That would be cool.

PS - I think Texas forced the tax collection role on Amazon.

  11. Hmm. . . so Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter is good? I may have to add it to my list.

I just started Arabian Nights. I've had more fun. Actually, I started it, then I immediately moved to a Clive Custler. :)

  12. Funny, I just figured out that the Abe Lincoln book was written by the same guy who wrote Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, which I found wildly entertaining. May have to pick that one up!
