Do you have worrywarts?

T. Mills via here
Even the phrase "worrywart" is enough to make me want to break out in hives.  ::Shudder::  Do you worry about things that are out of your control?  Or are there irrational things that you just can't help but lose sleep over?  And yes, you know they are irrational but you can't help but just turn things over and over in your head.  Your thoughts are never peaceful or at rest and you constantly imagine different scenarios and how wide the gap is between the best case and worst case (like the width of the Grand Canyon).  Friends, family and heck, even strangers that you overshare with, tell you to give it a rest, relax, decompress and just breathe.

For me, it's about relinquishing control and rolling with the punches, so to speak.  What exactly are you afraid of?  You know that you can handle whatever life decides to throw in your general direction.  The tenacity of the human spirit is something that you should have faith in, and is the crux of it all really more about fear than worrying?

  3. LOL on the first comment!
Anyhoo, I do get those moments when I get such an irrational worry over something I have no control over. The worse thing is the internal dialogue that goes on non-stop once I start...eeeep! Thank God these moments have gotten lesser and lesser the older I get (ahem....)

  4. spiders scare the &)(@* out of me. sometimes i'mj afraid that someone will just chase me one in the head just to be funny, but the thought of that becoming a reality is soooo nerve wracking.

  5. I I've really tried to let go of things I can't control, but still have a couple of weird things I worry about. Worrying is a waste of energy, I once heard.

  6. bugs (of ALL kinds), in my house, paralyze me with fear. I don't mind them outside, but holy crap... the idea of a bug (you kno, one bigger than a tiny spider or something) make me want to move! Luckily I haven't really had to deal with any. Knock on wood! I did have mice in my apartment in college though. TERRIFYING!

I also have a phobia of structures collapsing due to weight while I'm in/on them. People jumping at a party, or walking on a rickety bridge, or even living in an apartment building have all been sources of anxiety for me in the past!

    Worrying sucks!

  7. I am a HUGE HUGE HUGE worrier and yeah, it totally has to do with control. I've had nights where I can't sleep because I'm worrying so much. It's SO frustrating.

  8. I try to ignore things when I'm worrying in the hopes I will stop. Right now I'm choosing to worry that the guy above might not know that people will forever be able to see though his ear lobes even if he takes the hoops out. I'm also worried that, since I had no idea who he was even after googleing, I'm officially old.

That way I can ignore things I should be worrying about. It's a strategy that usually works for me. :)

  9. I'm going to say I don't worry about things I can't control or irrational things. But I'd need to know what you consider irrational to be sure if we define it the same way. I may have a different interpretation.

My mind is rarely still. Unless I'm exhausted, I'm thinking about something. I do run through different scenarios, for me that's part of being prepared.

Maybe there's a subconscious drive to not only be prepared, but to be prepared to handle perfectly what life throws at us. Maybe.

  10. I hate being in limbo, when a decision needs to be made and it's sort of out of my control and I depend on others. that's when I tend to overthink. I wouldn't call it worrying tho. it's literally overthinking. I can drive myself crazy with it. and people tell me to just let go. otherwise I'm pretty relaxed. life is what it is. and that's how I like it....

  11. I tend to worry a lot - about the tiniest stupidest things that i have no control over! But i'm getting better i think

  12. Umm, yeah... I won't even begin to tell you all the silly little things I constantly worry about. Future uncertainty being one of them...

  13. I do sometimes, because I like to be in control of everything (which is impossible of course). On the other hand; some things I just don´t let bother me. I learn as I grow older! :-D

  14. This is exactly like me, I'm a contral freak, haha. I was born neurotic, and the only way I can make it through life is to make sure everything that can be planned is planned (although things often go wrong and I have to roll with it haha).

  15. I'm the biggest worrywart. I make myself anxious over all the worst-case-scenarios of any given situation (I've even packed clothes in my carry-on in case they lose my luggage and I'm left stranded in a foreign country, naked...it never happened but I was prepared just in case!). I need to conquer it but instead I just sort of live with it, I guess.

  16. The worry in my life has passed to a different plane. This move makes me very uncomfortable bc as much as I love being close to my parents I don't want to live there... The circumstances definitely will make me more driven into coming back and retake the life I'm putting on hold now... Have a nice weekend!

  17. I have to admit, I've always been a bit of a worrywart. Some days I'm completely fine, and other days the smallest things get me. I've gotten used to it though, and the people around me, which is a good thing.

  18. yes, unfortunately i can relate, i think we all can, but like you said rooth, i guess we just need to go with it and roll w. the punches right? have a great weekend!

  21. i've never been one to worry over irrational things. but i have tended to over think, over-analyse, over-process in general.

letting go and learning to trust is a big life lesson. and a very liberating one :)

  23. Oh man, I'm definitely a worrier, but I'm trying to focus this summer on "Getting Over It" You have to realize not everything is in your control AND not everything even has to do with you (when you think it might).
Oh, and if I haven't eaten..... that just makes it worse!!!!

  24. I have anxiety about dumb stuff (but not the big stuff for some reason) all the time. Like if I'm going to a coffee shop to work on my computer I get stressed out the whole ride over about whether I'm going to find a seat next to an outlet for my charger. It is so dorky and so ridiculous! Ugh haha
