Eats of the week

Insta-food!  This week was a little crazy food-wise with the Fourth of July thrown into the mix.  We may or may not have gone a little overboard at the cheese counter and ended up with some mild but complex Dutch farmer's cheese and a bottle of French red wine.  The bananas that I bought last week went intentionally bad, allowing me to make mini banana muffins.  I love that you can make something utterly delicious out of expired fruit - banana bread and banana muffins are pretty much the only reason I buy bananas.  And for the Fourth, we grilled homemade jalapeno poppers.  I was in charge of slicing and de-seeding the jalapenos and foolishly forgot to wear gloves.  Suffice it to say, putting in my contacts has been painful for the past two days.  And how much more fatty can you get, stuffing something with cream cheese and then wrapping it in bacon?  The smiley gummies really need no explanation - I love sour gummies and could eat them by the pound.

Did you eat anything tasty this week?

  1. Jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese are my go-to bar food! I always have to order them if they are on the menu, no matter how divey the place is. And more often than not, my friends are so not interested in having any (WEIRD) and so I'll get to eat all of them myself. Stomach of steel! ;)

  5. Ouch, the contacts! I'm so sorry, that must be awful. Glasses for a few days?

The food looks great--and the poppers awesome. How bad do bananas have to be to put in muffins? I don't like bananas with any green on the peel. I like them all yellow, starting to speckle brown.

the boyfriend's cousin had a 4th of July/40th bday party and his wife made lots of yummy things (typical bbq food plus red velvet cake, root beer float fudge, homemade pb&j marshmallows, and bacon jam)!

  9. Mmmmm, nosh. It all looks scrumptious!

Today I made my famous (well, famous amongst my friends and fam :P) spaghetti bolognese, my 1st cousin came over and we all enjoyed it. I managed not to have three helpings of it like I did a few weeks ago because, well, I'm trying not to be a pig. ;-) I always eat moderately, thankfully, but sometimes I can't help myself with spaghetti...dammit!

  18. I love sour gummies too. Let's shake hands.

Oh my, the putting on of contacts is such a terrible feeling. I know how you feel coz once I handled chilli padi and also suffered the burning sensation when I put on and remove my contacts.
