A little bit chilly

Plush Tights / Contigo Thermos / Wrap / Dress
I am one of those cold-blooded creatures with bad circulation and perpetually icy cold hands and feet.  At my last job, I kept a space heater under my desk for those especially chilly days.  I've also done my fair share of silly things to try and stay warm in the office - including wearing multiple layers of oversized fleece jackets, keeping a pair of fingerless rainbow arm warmers at my desk and making sure a constant rotation of hot chocolate and coffee are within my reach.  For those of you like me, you know that it's tough to stay stylish AND warm in the office.  What of those chic skirts and dresses?  Can't wear them unless you want your legs to feel like popsicles.  Those jewel-toned silky blouses?  You may as well forget about those.

But what you can do right now is get your mitts on some sophisticated offerings to stay warm especially during the post holiday sales.  Like a neutral coloured wool wrap that looks nice enough to wear to internal meetings (confound those cold meeting rooms!) and a wool blend dress that you can layer with a jacket or blazer.  And my next investment is definitely going to be in fleece-lined tights.

Do you have any tips to staying warm in the office?

  1. The fleece-lined tights sounds like a great idea. I should get some of those too.

  2. fleece tights?! i want.

no one likes coming over to my house because i keep it around 80 degrees (especially my mom, whahaha). i so get it. i hate the cold not so much because it's cold but because i cannot wam myself back up once i get cold. sometimes i just give up after about 8 hours and go to bed. the irony is i wake up about 20 minutes later roasting to death.

you could get one of those lavender filled heating pads or some emergency hand warmers.

  3. We're opposites on this. I could wear short-sleeves almost all year. I used to get cold at work only two or three times a year. But the HVAC system in my current building actually has too much air flow. Our former director's conference room was like a chilly wind tunnel--I kept a wind breaker on the back of my door just for meetings there.

Generally speaking, I drink tea only when I don't feel well...not to warm up. But I've had trouble keeping mugs at work (the handles keep breaking off when I wash them).

  4. Your picks look stunning and very stylish. It doesn't get very cold in Dubai much but I always have a thermos filled with hot liquid even inside the car. During vacations in winter, fleece saves the day, indoors.

  5. Fleece-lined tights sound like something sent down directly from heaven. I keep one of my grandfather's old cardigans and a hot water bottle on my chair at work all the time. It's so chilly!

  7. I have the same issue; always feeling cold. Sometimes I just keep my coat on wherever I go, wherever I am. Haha. Happy New Year!

  8. I'm always hot in the office, I have a fan at my desk lol. I'm still wearing skirts to work without tights but when it does get really cold, I'll put on tights. I do have a really nice warm coat to keep me warm from the car to the office and a light sweater at my desk when I do get a bit chilly.

  9. Even though I look ridiculous (I've been referred to as Afghan Woman) I love cuddling up in a blanket.... Even if it's in the "comfort" of my classroom!

  10. I don't work in an office but I do wear skirts to school in freezing temps. My trick is a pair of plush lined tights (yes! so warm and so cozy and so comfortable) and a wool skirt. Plus a ton of layers on top.

  13. I love that dress. Our winters are usually mild so that dress with leggings would do nicely :)

  14. I am also extremely cold-blooded, and get cold very easily. My co-workers constantly joke with me that my desk is the coldest in the office - not cool. I have this really handy coffee-warmer that keeps my coffee warm, and also is nice for warming up my hands when they get cold. I also keep a scarf at my desk to wrap up in, which I find helps a lot.

  15. Fleece-lined tights are the tops! I occasionally wear them under a layer of leggings.

  16. Two winters ago, my desk was 50 degrees max, skirts and cute were totally out of the question. :) When it gets cold in the office and I'm not prepared for it, I just keep my jacket, scarf and flip-top mittens {the ones smokers use, the fingers are convenient for typing} on. I have heard some people swear by silk long underwear, it's super thin so you can wear it under pants and tops and it's allegedly not noticeable but I don't have any.

  17. I always have a pipping hot cup of tea to keep my hands warm! And wear fingerless gloves.

  18. I actually have not had to work during the winter before since I've had mostly winter internships/casual winters. I have no clue what I'm going to do.

    Freeze, probably.
